Jason Jones, Subspace,  Scoop de Loop SCD8039, $NZ29.95 Saxophonist Jason Jones' solo debut CD is jazz at its best showcased in seven original tracks. Jason's distinctly individual sound is the outworking of  diverse studies in composition and 10-years jazz  with some of the finest players. With Subspace Jason Jones has produced an album that belies his years. Previously he has appeared with the Rodger Fox Big Band (American tour 1994), the George Chisholm Quintet, the Murray McNabb Group, Jazz in the Present Tense and the Kim Paterson Quintet. His more recent performances have been as leader of his own trio or quartet. Recordings featuring Jason Jones include Urbanism, Jazz in the Present Tense and a guest appearance on trumpeter Kim paterson's Impending Journey. All these recordings were nominated for the RIANZ Jazz Award. As a music graduate from Auckland University with post-graduate studies in the USA, Jason is well equipped to present intelligent compositions.
